MiFID II’s foot hovers over finishing line

MiFID II’s journey of a thousand miles has taken another small technical step. The Council has asked the Permanent Representatives Committee (COREPER), for confirmation of its agreement to the MiFID II\MiFIR proposals adopted by the Parliament on 15^th April 2014. Subject to the Council’s confirmation (exceedingly likely), the legislation will be formally adopted and signed by the Presidents of both the Council and the Parliament, prior to publication in the Official Journal.

While MiFID II’s official birth day draws closer, the eventual graduation from ESMA’s Parisian finishing school will put the final gloss on its character and prospects.
